Hotel Watering Holes: The other day I posted a video about Vietnamese coffee. Then I see Tablet Hotels has a blog post about the same, and reminded me of the Metropole Hotel in Hanoi and it’s infamous Le Club with it’s daily chocolate buffet.
An institution since 1901, this place just makes you want to write, or drink. Maybe both actually. The outdoor Bamboo Bar is really a great place to fritter away 3-5 hours on a hot day.

The new Philipe Stark designed hotels, Mama Shelter has just opened their 2nd outpost in Marseille. (Via Casa Sugar) It’s loud, proud, and fun featuring 127 rooms with prices starting at 69 EUR. The one in Paris looks rad too. And where else can you get the top end suite room, for just 309 EUR?

Today’s Room: Take a sneak peak check into Palazzo Victoria in Verona, Italy. The Robb Report breaks it down, “It has 70 rooms (from about $300 per night), many of which feature wraparound balconies and fresco paintings, as well as an enclosed garden, a lobby bar and café, and a traditional Italian restaurant.”

It’s been a long time since I’ve been to San Juan Island here in the Northwest. But seeing this 1250 square foot studio space and cabin on 3.4 acres just makes us want to hop on the ferry to Friday Harbour. (Via Apartment Therapy and Adventure Journal)

Love this. The Beer Moth. A 1956 Fire Service truck, now operating as a unique mobile room. This cool experience is just £80/night. Well, it’s still a tent. This is my kind of camping. (Via Laughing Squid)

Today’s Room: Luxury Japanese Hotel in Tokyo? How about 290 rooms and views from 23 floors. Welcome to the newly reopened Palace Hotel Tokyo with a gorgeous hotel bar. (Via Pursuitist.) I could see Bill Murray staying there.

Summer evenings in Capoliveri | Italy (by AndreaPucci)

Looks perfect! Am I the only one that notices that even Italy’s summer nights are more relaxing than here in North America? More chilled out and more sophisticated.
